Our Sai Ying PunThe Our Sai Ying Pun Project @ The Nesbitt Centre![]() In 2010, The HK Arts Development Council awarded The Nesbitt Centre a grant for the Our Sai Ying Pun arts project.
It aimed to capture the changes Sai Ying Pun has gone through over the years. The workshops were a co-operation of the students, the internationally established artist Lorette E. Roberts and the community. T he result was a big mixed media installation which was exhibited at the Community Complex from October 2011 onwards. On the opening night twelve of the artworks were auctioned by Christie's, international auction house. The money raised has been donated to other Charities. The exhibition was a new milestone in the history of The Nesbitt Centre. As a centre for adults with learning disabilities it is proud to showcase the many talents of their students. Since 1993, the Nesbitt Centre provides English- speaking educational programmes for adults with learning disabilities - and a respite and residential facility, which helps to achieve independence and development of their own potential and opportunities within the community. The Our Sai Ying Pun exhibition - what a success!
The Our Sai Ying Pun exhibition has closed its doors now and what a success it has been. The opening was a night packed with people and the Nesbitt Centre students as hosts of the evening were the shining stars.
Sharon Kwok as our special guest gave the evening that extra sparkle and the Christie's auction was so exciting, we all were in the spell of Jonathan Stone. In total we raised an amazing $35,700! Thank you to all the buyers, we hope you have a piece of artwork you will cherish. Thank you also to the people who unexpectedly donated some more money. Your generousity has made a lot of difference.
The money raised will be donated to 4 different charities: Growing Together, Home of Loving Faithfulness, IDEAL and Sailability. The Nesbitt Centre students are particularly pleased that they have raised so much money for other charities and no doubt this money will contribute to many good causes.
